All around the world, people are longing to see their cities filled with peace, love, safety, and God’s presence. The Bible teaches us that we should pray not only for ourselves but also for our cities, so that they may prosper and be blessed (Jeremiah 29:7). Believers everywhere ask the question: “How do I lift up my city in prayer?”—and this article, Prayer for My City, is the answer.
This prayer guide is designed to help you lift up your city before the Lord with praise, spiritual cleansing, biblical declarations, and intercession. Whether you are praying alone, with family, or with your church, these prayers will strengthen your faith and bring lasting transformation to your community.

2. Prayer of Spiritual Cleansing
Heavenly Father,
I come before You humbly, seeking Your mercy and forgiveness for the sins I have committed, knowingly and unknowingly. Please forgive me for the sin of ignorance, for the times I have acted without understanding or failed to seek Your wisdom. Cleanse me from the sin of unbelief, for the moments when I have doubted Your power, Your love, and Your promises.
I ask for Your forgiveness for any unconfessed sin in my life. Reveal to me any hidden wrongs that I may bring them before You in repentance. Lord, I also ask for Your grace to forgive others, especially those who have hurt me. Remove from my heart the sin of unforgiveness, that I may extend the same mercy You have shown me.
Father, I renounce and repent of any involvement in the occult or any association with practices that are contrary to Your will. I break any covenants or agreements that my parents or grandparents have made, knowingly or unknowingly, with worshippers of false gods or organizations such as Free Masonry.
In the name of Jesus, I break all curses that have been placed upon me, my family, or my descendants. I declare that any common indications of a curse are nullified by the power of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. By His blood, all curses are broken, and I am set free.
Thank You, Lord, for Your forgiveness and for breaking every chain. I declare that I am free in the name of Jesus. I am covered by His blood and protected by His grace. I pray for Your continued guidance and strength to walk in Your ways.
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
3. Declaring God’s Authority Over the City
Heavenly Father,
I declare Your authority over my life, my family, and my city. According to Your Word, I stand firm in the power and authority You have given me through Jesus Christ. As a child of God, I believe I have spiritual authority over my city.
In the name of Jesus, I take this authority and bind all negative powers and forces in the air, on the earth, and in the water in our city.
Luke 10:19 – I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.
Isaiah 54:17 – No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the LORD.
Colossians 2:14 – having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.
Ephesians 1 :21-23– far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.
And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
Isaiah 41:25 – I have raised up one from the north, and he shall come: from the rising of the sun shall he call upon my name: and he shall come upon princes as upon morter, and as the potter treadeth clay.
4. Declaring God’s Authority Over the City
Heavenly Father,
I lift my city before You, knowing that the earth and everything in it belongs to You (Psalm 89:11). I ask that this place be recognized as Yours alone—set apart for Your glory and for the work of Your Church.
Lord Jesus, You came to bring good news, to heal broken hearts, to set captives free, and to comfort those who mourn (Isaiah 61:1–3). Let that same anointing rest upon my city today. Replace sorrow with joy, heaviness with praise, and despair with beauty.
Holy Spirit, change the atmosphere of this land. Let joy and thanksgiving flow through our streets (Isaiah 51:3). May our community be restored and renewed until it reflects the song of Heaven itself.
Father, establish our identity in You. Let my city be known as a place where the King of Glory has entered in (Psalm 24). May every gate of influence open wide to righteousness, and may all evil be shut out.
I pray that every heart here would bow to the Lordship of Jesus Christ (Psalm 83:18). Let reverence for God replace fear of man, and may Your light shine through Your people as they live blameless and bold lives of faith (Philippians 2:15 16).
Unite us, Lord, in the spirit of John 17—that we would walk in love and honor toward one another, shining as one body, so the world will know You are at work among us. Fill this city with hope, faith, and the courage to trust You above all else (Psalm 71:5, Matthew 21:21).
Bless this land with a reputation for righteousness (Proverbs 11:10–11). Pour out revival so that hearts, homes, and even the environment reflect the life of God (Hosea 14:7). Provide abundantly for every need—physical, emotional, and spiritual (3 John 1:2).
I ask for health and wholeness to sweep through this city, breaking addictions, healing diseases, and lifting burdens (Psalm 103:2–3). Make this a place of safety and provision for the poor, the vulnerable, and the oppressed (Psalm 82:4).
Lord, let the government of this city rest on Your shoulders (Isaiah 9:7). Establish leaders who walk in wisdom, justice, and humility before You.
Finally, I declare that the destiny You have written for this city shall come forth in full. Let every promise You have spoken be fulfilled, so that this land becomes a testimony of Your goodness, mercy, and power (Luke 10:9).
In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.
5. Prayer Requests for My City
God commanded the Israelites to march seven days around the city of Jericho, lifting up prayers and praises to God for His deliverance.
Then the Lord said to Joshua, “See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands” (Joshua 6:2)
Jesus,
Thank you for your presence in our city and the surrounding areas.
We humbly request Your presence in our city, so that all may be enlightened and turn away from darkness, embracing the light and the power of God.
Grant safety and peace to all inhabitants, guiding them towards a deeper understanding of Your divine wisdom. We pray for protection against the schemes of the enemy, that they may be overcome in the lives of all who dwell here.
Those who are physically and spiritually sick will be knowingly healed by Jesus. All people will know the One God and his Son, Jesus Christ.
Lord Jesus, we pray for the well-being of our city’s residents and visitors, for their safety, health, and prosperity.
6. Prayer for the Animals and Protection Over the City
Heavenly Father,
I lift up every creature in my city before You. Lord, may all pets, wild animals, and living beings be under Your divine control. Let them live in harmony with us and not cause harm or bring trouble to anyone.
I ask for Your guidance and wisdom in protecting us from harmful pests. Show us how to manage them with care, and keep them from becoming a threat to human life or well-being.
In the mighty name of Jesus, I declare that every negative influence, every dark force, and every scheme of the enemy in this city must bow to the authority of Christ. Let Your glory fill this place, so that peace, safety, and blessing rest upon every home, every family, and every creature here.
Acts 5:14
And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women.
Acts 9:31
“Then the church throughout Judea, Galilee and Samaria enjoyed a time of peace and was strengthened. Living in the fear of the Lord and encouraged by the Holy Spirit, it increased in numbers.”
Acts 6:7
And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.
Prayer is powerful because it invites God to move in the lives of people, leaders, families, and even the environment. As you continue to pray faithfully for your city, you will see transformation, healing, and revival take place. May this article, Prayer for My City, serve as a guide to bless and uplift your city.
“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” (Psalm 33:12)
Amen, Amen, Amen
